"When I first started reading books and online advice regarding pregnancy, Pilates was always a constant mention and recommendation. However, I never thought it would be something that I would enjoy, or feel like I got a lot from, but felt like I needed to do something during my pregnancy to keep fit and active as running around the Netball Court or League Tag and AFL field was out of the question.
After signing up and completing a term with Deirdra out at Glendonbrook, I found that Pilates had the opposite effect.
Pilates has helped maintain my fitness level and muscle tone without running kilometres on end, and still giving you that "burn" we all love to get from the gym. Especially from the clam shell exercises, that work the thigh and glutes.
While Pilates has helped keep me fit and active, it has also helped with some good night's sleep. Most nights would be spent tossing and turning, however on a Monday night, after Pilates, I sleep like a baby….so to speak.
Pilates reminds me to work on my pelvic floor, and offers me a way of exercising that still feels comfortable and safe with an ever growing bump."
