So I've been a bit quiet on here the past little while, but it's because things 'offline' have been quite busy!
I took some time to rest and relax with my family, which always does a body and mind good.
But I also completed some training which I find pretty exciting... I'm now a Total Barre® instructor!
I have loved barre classes since taking my first one a few years back. I've attended Xtend Barre, Pure Barre and Barre 3 classes across Australia and North America and enjoyed them all. I try and find a class any time I'm travelling. I love 'dancing' as a workout and I love how happy I feel when I leave one of those classes (I know, I know, endorphins don't solely apply to barre classes, but they definitely kick into high gear!).
What is a barre class?
Well there is a ballet barre (or anything sturdy at about waist height that can be used to help with balance, among other things). And there are balletic movements. But these classes aren't only for prima ballerinas - not at all, in fact! Yes, they will appeal to people who have previously studied dance, but probably because they still love to dance.
These classes are designed - like pilates - to be accessible to all ages and abilities. The instructor ensures their 'dancers' are comfortable with the movements before moving on to the next level.
Everything is choreographed to music, so you will feel as though you're dancing more than you are 'working out'. I find I often get to the end of the class without having noticed the time go by! But then I notice the burn I'm feeling in my quads, my glutes, my calves, my arms, my abs... It's a full body workout that I'm excited to teach!
Join me at the barre, won't you?
