Refilling my Easter basket for pilates purposes

April 2, 2018

Yesterday, this wicker basket was part of the traditional Easter egg hunt. Today, I decided to repurpose it.

Turns out, in addition to being a great chocolate egg collector, it’s great for storing Pilates equipment like resistance bands, a small fit ball and light hand weights.

Do you have any of these in your house?

You don’t need equipment to have an effective Pilates workout. Most of the time, just rolling out your mat will suffice.

But if you want some ideas about how to use your various pieces of equipment, here you go.

Got a band?

  • Place the band under your feet, legs hip distance apart. Pull up the bands into bicep curls - make sure the band is tight enough so that you really get into the muscle and feel a burn!

Got a small fit ball?

  • Place the ball between your thighs and squeeze while you complete abdominal curls (feet down or in table top) or while you complete a set of pelvic curls.

  • Or, for a really good challenge, place your feet on the ball as you complete as many Pilates push-ups as you can. Don’t worry if you’re feeling slightly shaky after that one!! You will work all over, especially your core as you work to really stabilise everything.
